Understanding import costs in Cyprus

We explain known, vehicle-specific costs before purchase. Below is a typical itemised estimate for a standard import (not a transfer-of-residence import); actual costs depend on the vehicle and applicable arrangements.

Customs duty: vehicle-specificDuty depends on vehicle category, origin and the applicable import procedure. Preferential treatment, including for eligible Japanese-origin vehicles, requires the relevant origin conditions and evidence to be satisfied.
VAT: standard third-country import rate 19%Generally calculated on customs value plus duty; applicable treatment is checked for your import.
Shipping: ~€700–1,800Depends on origin and RoRo vs container method.
Inspection & registration: quoted per vehicleApplicable approval, inspection, registration and plate costs depend on the vehicle and required procedure.
